- Volkswagen ID. Aero Teased In Sketch Form Ahead Of Its Debut On June 27
Volkswagen has released a concept sketch of an all-electric sedan that will make its global debut on June 27, 2022. The ID. Aero show car will serve as a preview for the brand's upcoming electric sedan, which is currently known internally as the Aero B but could be known as the ID.7 in production form.
The production version of the ID. Aero, according to the German automaker, will occupy the "high-volume upper-middle class segment" and will be built on the Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform, like the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, and ID.Buzz.
The five-metre-long EV sedan concept is longer than the current B8 Passat and is said to have an aerodynamic front and roof, the latter of which is visible in the sketch. This sleek shape is complemented by taillights similar to those found on ID. Space Vizzion concept from November 2019, with an intricate LED array that includes a full-width light bar.
The ID. Space Vizzion is a 4,958 mm long electric waggon concept that is most likely an alternative body style for the I.D Aero. Volkswagen's previous attempt at an EV sedan, the I.D. Vizzion, was released in 2018, so the ID. Aero could be an updated version of that.
The company has stated that the production version of the ID. Aero will go on sale in China in the second half of 2023. The model for North America and Europe will be introduced in 2023, with series production taking place at Volkswagen's Emden plant.
