The Volkswagen subsidiary Elli, responsible for all matters charging and energy has expanded its wall box charger offering.

Generally known as Elli, the three brand-neutral wall box models initially offered in Germany are now also available in Italy, Sweden and Spain.

Ranging from Standard, Connect and Pro models, they are compatible with current and future Volkswagen EVs, plus all cars from other makers with a Type-2 connector.

All three have an integrated 4.5- or 7.5-metre-long charging cable, and allow home usage with a max charging capacity of 11-kW. That’s eight times faster than a household socket.

Additionally, the Connect and Pro models have internet connection via WiFi or optionally via LTE, meaning users can control these two wall boxes when on the move.

On top of that, these two models can also be activated remotely through an app or a charging card for selected users.

In the case of the Pro charger, the app also shows all charging processes in an overview and allows a corresponding PDF file to be exported.

To install either of the wall boxes, or all three even, requests for an assistance service on an individual basis from Elli is available.

For example, if extra modifications such as to masonry, fuse boxes or cables are required, a portfolio of installation partners designated for this purpose will be recommended.

What’s more, three flexible and transparent charging tariffs are offered for users whenever charging on the road is needed instead of at home.

Prices are based on user charging habits, which include ‘Drive Free’, ‘Drive City’ and ‘Drive Highway’. Changing to a higher tariff is possible at any time.

Cost transparency is assured thanks to fixed prices per kilowatt hour, independently of the respective charging station operator.

That said, these transparent tariff models provide affordable access to more than 330,000 charging points throughout Europe, including 10,000 fast chargers at over 3,000 locations.
