Limited-Editon Bentley Mulliner Batur EV teases fresh design language
The limited-edition Bentley Mulliner Batur will be unveiled later this month during Monterey Car Week on Aug 21.
Different from its current V6, V8 and W12-engine powered models, Crewe’s first ever EV is expected to be a high-riding saloon that boasts a range of more than 483 km (300 miles) apart from featuring the brand’s new design ethos.
Bentley has been tight-lipped about the electrified grand tourer's underpinnings, but sources online suggest that it will have similar bones as the existing Continental GT - Bentley’s signature GT offered with a twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine that serves up 626 hp and 900 Nm.
For those curious, the Batur naming was inspired by a lake of the same name located in the famed resort island of Bali, Indonesia. From it’s latest teaser, the flying B badge is prominently displayed up front where a chrome red grille panel with a V-shaped mesh pattern is also presented.
Earlier statements from Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark suggests that the company's EV could have as much as 1,400 hp. He also indicated owners would be able to dial back the acceleration to hit 60 mph (approx. 100 kmh) in about 2.7 seconds.
Aside from the EV saloon, Bentley plans to introduce EV replacements for its existing models - the Bentayga, Continental GT, and Flying Spur - one per year starting from 2025 onwards.
Additionally, rumours indicate that Bentley will produce just 25 units of the Batur, each reportedly tagged at approximately £2 million (approx. RM10.76 million). It’s status as a bespoke, limited-run offering ought to justify this sizeable price tag.
