Public is advised to use public transport on Merdeka Day Celebration

In conjunction with the upcoming "Merdeka Day Celebration" this year, you might need to use public transport as announced that there will be a road closure at Dataran Merdeka in preparation for the festival.

For your information, buses will be diverted through Jalan Tun Perak to Lebuh Ampang and return to the original route. Among bus stations that will be ‘busy’ that day and not available for operation includes Muzium Tekstil Negara and Medan Pasar.

As usual, several main roads will be closed on the day for safety purposes and to ensure that the celebration runs smoothly. For that, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has recommended that public transportation such as LRT (Light Transit), Monorail and Mass Transit (MRT) trains will be the most convenient alternatives to reach to your desired destination.

On top of that, rail services as mentioned above will start at 4.30am on 31 August. In the meantime, do avoid parking your vehicle in restricted areas that may disrupt traffic on that day.

Although, if you’re planning to drive, you may park close to the Masjid India in the open space on Jalan Murshi Abdullah, in front of IPD Dang Wangi, close to Jalan Sultan Salahuddin and the multi-story parking garage in front of Bukit Aman YET with your own risk.

To be safe, it is highly advisable to use public transport where you could save your time, effort and also energy.

Stay tuned with Caricarz!
