Drivers get to design their own Corvette Z06 engine?

The Chevy automaker is resuming its "Build Your Own Engine" programme for the 2023 Corvette Z06, expected to happen in the second quarter of 2023. Through this programme, it permits buyers to come into the factory and help workers assemble the engine before it goes into their car.

However, the special treatment will only be available for Corvettes utilizing the LT6 powertrain, which, for now, only means the Z06.

According to plant director Kai Spande, he stated that it is a real challenge for them because of its new engine and much more complex that before.

"We've done some things that I think will be very much appreciated by those that build their engine," Spande added.

However, the first mid-engine Corvette Z06 will go on sale as a 2023 model after production begins in the summer of 2022.

Under the hood, it consists of a specific engine that will make it sound like the supercars it is attempting to dethrone. The naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 engine Corvette Z06 has a flat-plane crank and a top speed of 8600 rpm on top of 670 horsepower and a Ferrari-like howl that will send shivers down bystanders' spines.

The Bow Tie brand went above and beyond to ensure that the interior of the mid-engine Corvette was not boring. While the design certainly stands out from the crowd, the square steering wheel and wall of climate-control buttons on the centre console are unusual to say the least.

Onboard, it has a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, and wireless phone charging. Inside, microsuede accents and more aggressively bolstered seats, as well as two carbon-fibre-intensive interior packages, highlights its track-worthy status.

Overall, Corvette Z06 displays more hardcore, track-focused version of the standard Vette, complete with bolder styling cues and serious performance characteristics.
