- Introducing the alluring 2024 Equinox EV - LT and RS variant
The latest Chevrolet Equinox EV is out and about in the market introducing an all-electrified model with a starting price approximately around RM 135.09 ($30,000). Notably, the Equinox enters the compact SUV market with a price tag which even without any potential government or tax incentives, the company expects it to be the most affordable electric vehicle (EV) in its class.
Under the hood, the Equinox EV comes equipped with front-wheel drive (FWD) and an electric motor with 210 hp and 242 lb-ft meanwhile also available is the all-wheel drive (AWD) electric drivetrain with 290 hp and 469Nm 346 lb-ft.
Chevy also includes an 11.5-kW Level 2 charging system that can add up to 34 miles of range per hour. The 3RS is available with a 19.2-kW Level 2 charging system, which increases the miles per hour charged to 51, and DC fast-charging capabilities, which add 70 miles of range per hour at up to 150 kW.
As the efficiencies gained from sharing its Ultium platforms and technology with other EVs, General Motors (GM) claims that Equinox EV is also built on the same platform as the Blazer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq EV.
The Equinox EV will be available in two trim levels offering LT and RS. Entry-level model, the LT is designed with a two-tone white roof, while the RS receives a black roof. Although the RS indicated a sportier and robust version of Equinox EV, there are another two higher-spec of RS variants – 2RS and 3RS fitted with darker interior including more advanced features.
Rides on either 20- or 21-inch, 19-inch wheels still come as standard for the all -electric Chevy Equinox. Compared to the gas-powered engine Equinox, the EV version has a longer and wider body although lower roofline of Equinox EV indicates that not only it lacks a front trunk but also less cargo space with rear seats folded.
When compared to the current Equinox, technology features include a large infotainment screen including an available 17.7-inch-diagonal system, a strong suite of standard and driver assistance technologies as well as Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology for compatible roads.
Super Cruise is the industry's first true hands-free driver-assistance technology which allows drivers to travel hands-free on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the United States and Canada.
The first of the company's electric vehicles to be announced this year in 2022 was the full-size truck Silverado EV, followed by the midsize SUV, the Blazer EV, and now the all-new Chevrolet Equinox EV.
