- MBM and Montfort Boys Town inks apprenticeship programme MoU
MBM (Mercedes-Benz Malaysia) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Shah Alam-based Montfort Boys Town earlier today. The agreement is set to last for a period of two years and aims to cultivate and develop local young talents through the carmaker’s globally renowned Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme.
“This collaboration will expose students to social and organizational competencies which will drive service excellence the Mercedes-Benz way,” said Sagree Sardien, president and CEO of MBM in her speech during the ceremony held today at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The exec continued further by noting that the effort represents part of the renown German carmaker’s education pillar, as well as the opportunity to nurture and invest in young talents who aspire to have a career in the automotive industry as globally certified technicians.

Present to sign the agreement with Sagree Sardien was Brother Robin Devasagayam, Director of Montfort Boys Town. “We strongly believe that this new training curriculum will add depth and broaden the horizons of our students as they pave their future careers,” expressed Robin upon completing the signing ceremony.
Through this agreement, MBM will now extend enrolments into its Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme for eligible students from the Montfort Boys Town. annual pre-enrolment assessments will be conducted for the students of Montfort Boys Town, and those who successfully pass will be able to apply for the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship programme.
Students who successfully enrol in this programme will receive full scholarships and get inducted as full-time trainees under MBM. Each student will also receive a monthly allowance of RM800 throughout the three-year programme, which also guarantees employment upon graduation with minimum salary in the first year.
Apart form that, graduates of this programme will also greater opportunities thereafter with Mercedes-Benz. Here, they can also progress into management positions within the customer services department upon completing their diagnostic level qualifications.
Apart from the MoU signing, the ceremony also doubled up as a Graduation ceremony for students from the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Programme class of 2021 and 2022 A total of 99 trainees present for this had completed their training and are now globally certified technicians by Mercedes-Benz.
These recent graduate now joins a long list of apprentice graduates from the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Training Academy. Since 1984, said list now totals over 900, many of which now work for the German marque’s authorised dealer network in various positions and across different specialisations.
