2024 Mini Aceman EV Nearing Production, Platform Co-Developed With GWM China

MINI has been teasing its ardent followers with the concept Mini Aceman for some time now and its looks like the Aceman is no longer a concept but ripe for production based on these recent spyshots captured of it being tested. This would be Mini’s first all new model in 10 years and would sit between the Mini Hatchback and Mini Countryman’s segment.

The Mini Aceman would be a ground-up new design and the first EV to use the Mini Spotlight Platform which was co-developed by BMW and its Chinese counterpart Great Wall Motors (GWM). Now we see why the Ora, another brand owned by GWM carries certain Mini touches.

It is said the Mini Aceman would go on sale in 2024. Full details of its exact dimensions are still not disclosed, however based on the concept previewed to the public earlier in the year, it measures 4.05 metres in length, 1.99 metres wide, and 1.59 metres tall. To put that into perspective, the Mini Countryman is 4.31 metres long and 2 metres wide making it fit perfectly in-between the Mini Hatch and Countryman.

Since the Aceman would be using a similar platform to the upcoming Mini Hatch, we can see the drivetrain between these models to be somewhat similar. The upcoming Mini Hatch is said to be offered in two trim levels, the entry level Mini Cooper, putting out 181BHP with a 40kWh battery and a perky Mini Cooper S churning 221BHP with a 50kWh battery. The range for these models is expected to be around 400KM.

Now based on these spyshots, it seems the Mini Aceman in its final stages of design works where it manages to marry the concept teased with some classic Mini ques making it unmistakable a Mini for the future. Being an EV, it does carry some typical EV design language such as the clean rounded closed up front. The rest of the details are too hard to pinpoint as the well designed camouflage does a good job in obscuring the finer details.

We do hope the production model would somewhat give us a more user friendly interior with proper classic Mini like buttons that we grew to love.  The Aceman concept was almost entirely digital without any buttons.
