- MINI JCW Electric & Aceman JCW Unveiled – 255 HP, JCW Performance Tweak
The all-new MINI Cooper & Aceman JCW Electric duo headlines the brand’s showcase at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.
MINI has finally unveiled two of its new all-electric performance models, namely the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman. These two models are essentially the full-blown JCW version of the new Cooper Electric hatch and Aceman EV crossover, which has obviously been given some special JCW treatment in both performance and visual aspects.
Taking centre stage at MINI’s showcase in the ongoing 2024 Paris Motor Show, both the Cooper and Aceman JCW EVs are powered by the same front-mounted e-motor rated at 255 HP and 350 NM, making it 40 HP and 20 NM more potent than their SE-badged counterparts.
On top of that, drivers will also get an extra 27 HP of power boost by engaging the boost paddle on the steering wheel, which allows a rapid century sprint finish of 5.9 seconds for the JCW Electric and 6.4 seconds for the JCW Aceman. Flat out, both JCW EVs can reach a limited V-Max of 200 KM/H.
Juicing both JCW EVs is the same 54.2-kWh battery pack used on both their SE-badged counterparts. Predictably, due to their peppier motor setup, both models get a slightly lower WLTP range of 371 KM for the hatch and 355 KM for the crossover.
On the visual front, both the JCW Electric and JCW Aceman feature the same bodykit primed on their JCW Trim twins, which includes sportier front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear spoilers, and diffusers, as well as tons of JCW emblems scattered around the exterior. The only way to differentiate the JCW Trim and these decked-out JCW models is from the wheels, as the latter ride on exclusive aero-optimised wheels shod in stickier performance tyres, measuring 18 inches for the hatch and 19 inches for the crossover.
Those red brake callipers hiding beneath the JCW wheels are not just for show, as they offer beefier braking performance for both the JCW EVs. Not to forget, both of them also benefited from a sportier, JCW-specific suspension tuning that focuses on further enhancing MINI’s signature go-kart handling.
The JCW treatment also goes on side both of these models’ interiors, as they are decked with a unique black and red pattern on their knitted front dash, an illuminated panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather upholstery with knitted inserts for the seats, as well as several JCW badges to remind occupants of their JCW-ness, just in case they forgot.
And just like their JCW-badged counterparts, both the new MINI JCW Electric and MINI JCW Aceman will also be manufactured in China, followed by its signature Oxford plant later from 2026 onwards once the renovation job has completed. Not to completely turn their back towards petrolheads, MINI is also planning to lauch a full-decked JCW version of the ICE-powered MINI Cooper hatchback, which is slated to debut sometime later this year.
