Lamborghini’s Unique 1968 Miura Roadster At The MUDETEC Museum
A priceless piece of automotive history is being displayed at the MUDETEC museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the one-of-a-kind 1968 Lamborghini Miura Roadster.
The exhibition is currently ongoing until 30 November, and this is a once in a lifetime chance to get up-close and personal with the legendary icon.
In the beginning, the Miura Roadster was unveiled at the Carrozzeria Bertone stand, at the 1968 Brussels Motor Show.
This Raging Bull remained a one-off, and is respected as one of the most beautiful show cars Lamborghini has ever produced.
Designed to dazzle, it featured a colour combination of Lamè Sky Blu for the exterior paintwork, with white leather interior and red carpeting.
Also, it had no side windows nor a roof closure system, which allowed the Bertone stylists to maintain a unique purity of line.
On top of that, many aesthetic changes were made compared to the Miura sedan. Notably, the completely redesigned rear part.
One that left the engine fully exposed, and the secondary control switches in the interior, usually mounted on the ceiling, moved to a different position.
After another appearance at the 1968 Geneva Motor Show, it was sent back to Sant’Agata Bolognese for some road tests led by legendary Lamborghini test driver Bob Wallace.
Then, upon returning to Carrozzeria Bertone, it was sold to the International Lead and Zinc Research Association (ILZRO).
Said entity modified it extensively, repainted it a dark olive-green colour with a green interior, and renamed it ZN 75.
Later, between 2007 and 2008, it endured a complete restoration, bringing it back to its original form with the utmost attention paid to every detail.
As soon as the work was done, it was presented at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where it took second place in the Lamborghini dedicated class.
That said, adding to its historic journey, this one-of-a-kind 1968 Lamborghini Miura Roadster, today has served as a muse to the just-released and last-ever Aventador Ultimae.
