Lexus Introduces The 2023 UX 300e, equipped with New Battery Pack
Lexus introduced the 2023 UX 300e, a revamped version from the brand's first fully electric which now tanked with a new developed battery pack.
Before going further into the powertrain, the lavish 2023 UX 300e presents a new exterior colour called Sonic Platinum. A new Hazel colour option also made available for both fabric and leather upholstery which adds on to the cabin appearance.
Notably, a new Kagome folding effect with leather upholstery, inspired by traditional Japanese basket weave. The surface texture of the dashboard is inspired by Washi paper grain, which is applied on traditional Japanese sliding doors.
Thanks to Toyota's luxury division, the relocated heated seat buttons from the centre console to the right of the gear lever have improved where it became more accessible.
"My Lexus" feature on the UX 300e allow users to check the vehicle's battery and cruising range via their smartphones. On top of that, the updated UX 300e also includes a digital key that allows the owner's smartphone to be used to lock and unlock the doors and start the vehicle.
More than that, two new display options in the cabin, exhibiting either an 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The climate controls integrated with the touchscreen that allows users to access web browsing, voice command and navigation functions, music, as well as vehicle settings.
Moving on, it adopts Lexus' new infotainment system which features either an 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay apart from enhanced over-the-air (OTA) system included.
In front of the cup holders, a pair of USB-C ports also included apart from wireless charging pad that vertically extended.
Continuing to its main selling point, Lexus unveiled the facelifted UX powered by internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains in May of this year.
Rides on either 17 or 18 inches, the newly developed battery pack from 54.4kWh to 72.8 kWh which claims to have a 40% longer range and increases the electric driving range from 315 km to 450 km with a WLTP energy consumption of 16.9 kWh/100km.
The automaker claims that special treatment was taken to reduce wind and road noises, making the cabin quieter. According to reports, the battery pack also serves as a sound barrier and consists of an output 201 hp and 300 Nm for the latest UX 300e model.
In terms of safety aspects, the 2023 Lexus UX 300e is packed with an improved Lexus Safety System and a driver assistance system. Currently, the system now includes bicyclist detection during the day and pedestrian detection at night, as well as an improved single lens camera and millimetre wave radar. For more info, an Emergency Steering Assist function has been added for assisted steering within the lane based on the driver's input.
