Featuring luxury cabins, a private cinema and even a restaurant, all generated by an electric vehicle (EV), Hyundai’s pop-up hotel in Essex, England.

It will be fully powered by the Ioniq 5 EV via vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, and will supply energy to electrical equipment such as lights, charging points, water heaters, showers, etc.

Notably, the EV’s in-car adapter allows domestic electrical appliances to be connected, and is capable of supplying AC power to equipment that has a max energy consumption of 3.6-kW.

Hyundai Motor UK’s managing director, Ashley Andrew, remarked, "This whole experience can be a demonstration of how practical this new technology is, we hope this concept will inspire many people to practice an off-grid lifestyle.”

Uniquely electrifying, the Ioniq 5 EV-powered Hyundai Hotel will be open for 14 nights from 19 October to 5 November 2022.

“I hope this pop-up hotel will be the start of a new concept where cars are able to provide this kind of luxury experience. I expect guests will be hoping that a hotel with this concept will be offered again in 2023,” concluded Hyundai’s hotel manager, Grace Dent.
