Blueshark Pens Multi-Stakeholder Partnership, Boosting EV Mobility in Malaysia
Blueshark, the EV scooter manufacturer, alongside EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), has recently struck a multi-stakeholder partnership with several local industry players in helping to boost green urban mobility in Malaysia.
Among the stakeholders involved including Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Green Technology & Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), as the EV manufacturer poised to make its local market debut next year.
This partnership is synonymous with the company’s aim to promote green urban mobility locally while boosting the business logistics by the empowerment of both corporates and SMEs as well as growing the gig economy.
The company also plans to expand and improve the two-wheel electric vehicles’ (2WEV) infrastructure in order to catalyse and sustain 2WEV’s growth. Said expansion involves building an ecosystem including charging ports and battery swap stations, viable for 2WEVs specifically designed to support its growth nationwide.
EPMB’s Deputy Executive Chairman, Zulkefly Baharuddin said, “As the world moves towards greener mobility and decarbonisation, we believe the most effective way to accelerate EV adoption is by providing consumers access to a superior, yet affordable product, powered by the most viable energy solution and complete ecosystem to support it.”
Following MITI’s approval to locally assemble its EV scooters, Blueshark will also start a pilot program, in conjunction with Blueshark’s delivery and infrastructure partners. Setting place in the Klang Valley area, said program targets to demonstrate the 2WEV’s feasibility as well as its ecosystem readiness.
Blueshark’s flagship scooter, the Blueshark R1 will be introduced with a leasing module, an initiative aimed to help companies reduce their operational costs while being environmentally sustainable. In time, this adoption is hoped to increase green job opportunities while uplifting the B40 economies.
Blueshark also announced that its debut 3S Centre soon will open its doors, an underlying commitment from the manufacturer in enhancing its 2WEV’s infrastructure and viable ecosystem.
The Blueshark R1 boasts a 5,000W high-speed electric motor that generates 6.7 HP and maximum torque of 201 NM. This 2WEV draws power from a pair of rechargeable and swappable 1.44 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, which produces a combined capacity of 2.88 kWh. The total package provides an estimated 110 KM travel range, claims the marque.
