- The New 2022 Ford GT LM, A Conclusion To A Legendary Breed
A tribute to its Le Mans-winning supercar that includes wins in 2016 and the historic 1-2-3 podium sweep in 1966, the Blue Oval presents the Ford GT LM Edition.
Only 20 of these 2022 final model-year special-edition supercars will be built, with deliveries slated this fall and production ending by year-end.
Ford Performance Motorsports’ global director, Mark Rushbrook, remarked, “With innovative materials, design and engineering, the Ford GT is unlike any other production supercar. As we close this chapter of the road-going Ford GT, the GT LM Edition gave us a chance to inject even more heart and soul from a podium-finishing race car, furthering the tribute to our 2016 Le Mans win.”
First off, the 2022 Ford GT LM gets a carbon fibre body coated in Liquid Silver exterior hue finished in either a red or blue theme, as a nod to the Le Mans winning No. 68 Ford GT’s race livery.
Then, for a unique appearance, an option of exposed red or blue tinted carbon fibre that underscores the lower aerodynamics of the supercar is also offered.
This includes tinting the ultra-lightweight material on the front splitter, side sills and door sills, engine bay louvers, mirror stalks and rear diffuser.
Adding to this package is the exposed gloss carbon fibre 20-inch wheels with matching red or blue inner-barrel accents, and titanium lug nuts and Brembo brake callipers coated in black.
Completing its exterior and unique to the Ford GT LM is a 3D titanium-printed dual-exhaust that features a cyclonic design inside the tips and hints at the twin-turbo 660 Hp EcoBoost engine.
Inside, it gets Alcantara-wrapped carbon fibre seats with matching red or blue driver’s seat, and Ebony passenger seat with stitches matching the driver’s seat colour and engine start button.
The instrument panel is wrapped in Ebony leather and Alcantara, while pillars and headliner are wrapped in Ebony Alcantara.
Speaking of the instrument panel, it features a 3D printed bespoke alloy badge made from the ground down engine crankshaft from the 2016 third-place No. 69 Ford GT Le Mans race car.
Perfecting the interior, the carbon fibre element continues into the cabin, appearing on the console, vent registers and lower A-pillars with a matte finish.
All in all, the 2022 Ford GT LM Edition builds on the ever-exclusive Ford GT limited-edition series, which already includes 10 ultra-limited-edition supercars.
