GOKL Joints To Support Rapid KL In Ferrying Passengers While The LRT Line Is Down
Following the disruption of the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) service on November 9, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is providing special routes for GoKL free bus services, involving six buses, beginning today. This is to support the earlier announced additional buses from Rapid KL, Smart Selangor and MARA Liner.
The Kelana Jaya to Ampang Park LRT lines serves about 200,000 passengers daily with 80% of the passengers focused during peak hours.
Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah, mayor of Kuala Lumpur, said this special route covers Central Market, Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, and KLCC, with a frequency of every 10 minutes during peak hours of 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 8 pm.
Datuk Seri Mahadi further added that "The GoKL bus service for the 11 existing routes is operating as per normal while the number of traffic wardens in high-traffic areas have been increased to a total of 45 people”.
DBKL also added two more 'point duty' locations to aid traffic dispersion. The locations are on Jalan Jelatik and Jalan Datuk Keramat, in addition to the existing 13 'point duty' locations.
DBKL stands ready to assist and collaborate with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the Royal Malaysia Police, and other relevant agencies in order to ensure smooth traffic and provide facilities to affected parties.
