One-off Matte Black Ferrari Enzo Up For Auction

Renowned UK-based auction house RM Sotheby’s is set to auction off perhaps one of the rarest and most coveted Ferrari hypercars ever built. Listed over at said auction house’s website recently is this 2004 Ferrari Enzo with very low mileage that’s also been recently restored to excellent condition.

Of course, the Enzo is already made rare by the fact that Ferrari just built 400 units of which, each packing a manic 6.0-litre naturally-aspirated V12 heart with 651 HP. But what sets this particular Enzo, which bears the chassis number 13606, apart from at least 399 others like it ever built is the paintjob it wears.

Officially, the Ferrari Enzo was offered exclusively in Rosso Corsa, but exceptions were made for select clients. One such result, commissioned by none other than the Brunei Royal Family, birthed this particular unit pictured, which was the only one to come out of Maranello’s gates in ‘Nero Opaco’, or matte black.

RM Sotheby’s listing continues to detail that this one-off Enzo was “kept at the family’s London residence where it made the occasional fleeting appearance rolling with menace around the streets of Hampstead, Mayfair and Knightsbridge, before later being brought over to the Asia-Pacific region.”

Remarkably, this Enzo has only covered just 5,730 KM throughout its time with the Brunei Royal Family. It was recently transported back to Italy where it underwent a full cosmetic restoration with Carrozzeria Zanasi – Ferrari’s official paint shop specialising only with the marque's hypercars, tailor-made and the Icona series – at a cost of €110,000 (approx. RM517,627).

Said restoration effort saw a number of parts replaced such as the ‘sticky’ switches, both the head and taillights, as well as the rear bonnet glass. On top of all that, Carrozzeria Zanasi also gave this Enzo a full body respray in the same shade of ‘Nero Opaco’ as the car once did when it first rolled out of Maranello.

As you can see from the images sprawled here, the result of said restoration is nothing short of spectacular to say the least. If anything, this ought to only strengthen this Enzo's asking price - likely in the millions of Euros.

Speaking of which, this Enzo is currently offered exclusively through RM Sotheby’s via a ‘sealed’ auction without reserve.

Again, this being a ‘sealed’ auction, we won’t know how much exactly this one-off Enzo will trade for, just as how a similar one-off Ferrari Enzo painted in white (Bianco Avus) did through the same auction house earlier this year.
