- The Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s First Ever Electric Vehicle Brand
Saudi Arabia has formed an alliance with BMW and Foxconn to launch its very own electric vehicle (EV) company, Ceer.
Backed by the Saudi’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), its establishment will explore potential sectors to further the country’s economic diversification and achieve PIF’s Vision 2030 objectives.
In addition, it will also contribute to the country’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and move towards sustainability.
Ceer will design, manufacture and sell a range of vehicles for consumers in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region, including sedans and sports utility vehicles.
Foxconn, the world's biggest electronics supplier will develop the EV platforms, covering the areas of infotainment, connectivity and autonomous driving technologies.
Meanwhile, the German automaker, BMW will provide component technology for use in the vehicle development process.
Each vehicle will be locally-assembled and tested to the highest global automotive quality control and safety standards.
That said, Ceer, the first EV brand from Saudi Arabia plans to begin deliveries of its first electric vehicles in 2025.
