5 Years Jail, Upto RM15,000 Fine For Driving Against Traffic Offences

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has issued a reminder on its socials a reminder to the public that driving or riding a vehicle against the flow of traffic can pose a danger to yourself and other road users.

Should any driver and rider commit such an offence, they can be subjected to action under Section 42(1), Road Transport Act (Amendment) 2020 which is for reckless and dangerous driving.

If found guilty, the driver or rider can be imprisoned for a period not more than five years and fined not less than RM5,000 and not exceeding RM15,000. Furthermore, they would have also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for five years from the date of conviction.
