Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid Gets One-Off Makeover from ‘The Surgeon’
Cross-disciplinary collaborations can be quite bizarre and unexpected, with its results oftentimes being a mix bag of success and absolute disaster. At times, however, such collaborations can spur some of the best and iconic products out there.
Bentley’s collaboration with famed sneaker designer ‘The Surgeon’ has given birth into a special edition one-off Flying Spur Hybrid. The custom-made luxury saloon was unveiled at the 2022 Art Basel Miami.
Draped in Anthracite black hue, the one-off Flying Spur Hybrid comes with Satin Bronze trim on both front and rear bumpers, as well as the side skirts and its massive 22-inch wheels.
The model comes standard with Bentley’s Mulliner Backline Specification and Styling Specification packages. The former package blackens the Flying Spur Hybrid’s brightware, while the latter gives its diffuser, splitter and lip spoiler a carbon fibre finishing.
Inside the customised saloon lies The Surgeon’s personal emblem – a camouflaged mask-wearing skull with a pair of surgical scalpels crossed below it. Said emblem was etched on both the door panels and dashboard wood veneers. Same marking can be found embroidered on the Linen-coloured seats’ headrests, as well as the rear console cover.
On top of that, even the puddle lights display The Surgeon’s signature emblem, should said embroidery and laser-cut etching weren’t enough already.
As mentioned earlier, the seats are all finished in Linen-shade upholstery, while some other parts of the interior are draped in Beluga black leather. A number of The Surgeon’s signatures can also be found in various parts of the cabin such as the door sill plates and the front dash.
The British luxury automaker has previously collaborated with The Surgeon in creating a collection of Adidas sneakers, taking design cues from some of Bentley’s luxurious cabin space. The design cue didn’t just stop there, as the customised sneakers are also made of similar materials as ones found inside a Bentley car.
Notably, just 10 pairs of Bentley x ‘The Surgeon’ Adidas Forum Low sneakers will be made, with all pairs being reserved exclusively for Bentley’s Mulliner clients and collectors. Fret not, as for the purchase of Bentley x ‘The Surgeon’ Flying Spur Hybrid comes with a pair of matching Adidas Forum Low sneakers, too.
Previously launched in Malaysia, the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid boasts a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill that works in tandem with its single hybrid motor to produce 565 HP and 750 NM. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) luxury saloon is powered by an 18-kWh battery pack that provides up to 41 KM of pure electric travel range.
The Malaysian-spec Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid carries a price tag from RM 945,000 sans insurance, taxes, and registration.
