- CATL To Supply 123 GWh Of Batteries To Honda
CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.) and Honda Motor (China) Investment Co. have announced a joint agreement in which Honda will purchase 123 GWh of batteries from CATL for their pure electric vehicles in China between 2024 and 2030.
CATL and Honda signed an agreement in 2020 to form a comprehensive strategic alliance on new energy vehicle batteries, allowing the two companies to collaborate in a wide range of areas such as joint development, stable supply, and battery recycling and reuse.
The two companies have agreed to strengthen their partnership by ramping up production and sales of Honda's pure electric vehicle brand e:N. Honda will buy 123 GWh of CATL batteries between 2024 and 2030, enough to power approximately 800,000 pure electric vehicles for the Chinese market alone.
The battery supply agreement will ensure Honda's long-term stable battery supply and allow both companies to maintain their leadership positions in the e-mobility transition, marking another significant milestone in their collaboration. CATL and Honda will capitalise on their respective advantages to sharpen their competitive edge, thereby contributing to the global push toward e-mobility and carbon neutrality goals.
