Ford Motor Company, a renowned American carmaker has revealed a sneak peek on one of its crossovers which the body resembles a copy of VW ID.4.
The car marque shares that the next lineup will be revamped to replace its long-standing nameplates like Fiesta (by 2023) and Focus (by 2025) into much taller or higher riding crossovers powered by electric motors.
Ford Model E Europe Division General Manager Martin Sander confirms the newly teased vehicle will be built on the Volkswagen MEB platform which actually has its own factory in Cologne.
As the factory is currently being upgraded and retooled in order to manufacture EVs, instead of one MEB- based platform there will be the second EV entering production in 2024.
Since the factory also manufactures Fiesta hatchback, the process of turning it into a hub of EV production would cost Ford a massive investment. The Blue Oval, a planned automobile assembly complex operated by Ford mentioned the cost would go up to 2 billion USD.
As we speculated, the second Ford EV could carry a sportier version of VW ID.5 as there are general teasers showing several upcoming models called sport crossover albeit no confirmation yet.
