Petronas subsidiary Gentari Sdn Bhd has launched the first 350-kilowatt (kW) DC charger in Southeast Asia. The fully operational charger for electric vehicles (EVs) consists of one 350kW supercharger, 2 DC fast chargers and 5 AC chargers.

The new charging station is now placed at X Park Sunway Serene, Sungai Way Free Trade Industrial Zone, Selangor. Aside from that, X Park was recognised as the first EV charging hub in Malaysia to be licenced by Energy Commission (EC). Hence, it guarantees facilities with structural and operational safety to increase confidence in the EV charging ecosystem in Malaysia.

According to Gentari's Chief Green Mobility Officer, Shah Yang Razali, he stated that Gentari's new high-speed charging hub at X Park Sunway Serene is expected to make a significant contribution towards supporting a viable EV ecosystem by further increasing the confidence level of driving range among EV users by providing focus on the charging experience in urban areas.

"As the first charging system licensed by the EC, we are delighted to be able to support efforts to standardize and govern Malaysia's fast-growing green mobility sector, further increasing consumer confidence."he commented.

He also added that Gentari is happy to be the first company to offer a pricing mechanism equivalent to kilowatt-hours (kWh), which proves that their team is always customer-first and quick to act.

EVC Managing Director Lee Yuen How highlighted  that the location in Sungai Way is seen as suitable as it can meet the needs of EV users living in residential and business areas around Petaling Jaya, who need reliable and convenient charging facilities with time shorter charging.

"We also hope to provide a variety of fast charging infrastructure that is affordable and easy to access at X Park, Bangi Golf Resort and other licensed hubs throughout the country in the future," he said.

For future planning, Gentari and EVC aim to construct a second charging station at the Bangi Golf Resort, which is also licensed by the EC.
