Hannah Yeoh: Synergy Needed To Make Sepang Circuit Great Again!

YB Hannah Yeoh, the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, seems to have started to warmed up to potentially a tenure filled with fuel fumes and boosted adrenalin when she went on the ground to conduct an inspection of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) infrastructure and facilities.

She was briefed by top management of SIC comprising Chief Executive Officer, Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Chief Financial Officer Caroline Lee and Chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Azman Yahya. From the visit, she expressed her understanding of the challenges the SIC management is facing. Hannah further added that she will look into a few aspects that could benefit from external collaborations with other agencies for SIC to improve.

While there, YB Hannah also took the opportunity to meet up with the 3-times Olympian, former cyclist Josiah Ng who now is in charge of coaching the SIC Racing Technical Academy, where she was briefed on how the outfit functions, and a run through of equipment, racing machines and facilities in the academy.

We do sincerely hope that YB Hannah would rise above her predecessors who seem to pull ideas and suggestions from thin air with little or no input from the actual people who would be users or organisers. YB Hannah should prioritise more on the grassroot of things where the push is actually needed, not at the top levels where participants are well funded by themselves or sponsors. More proper town-hall sessions would help both sides understand what is needed and what compromise each can arrive to, to make things work.
