- Loke Takes KTM Komuter And TBS By Surprise
Transport Minister Anthony Loke was out and about again, this time to inspect the KTM Komuter services and the status at the city's primary public transportation hub, the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).
"This evening, I went to see the KTM Komuter services and the situation at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan. With two of my assistants, I took the Komuter train from KL Sentral to Bandar Tasik Selatan.
"I've received a lot of feedback on social media about the Komuter service and the Bus Entry Pass issue at TBS.
"I will be meeting with KTMB's (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd) management in the very near future to discuss with them how to better improve and increase the frequency of the Komuter service.
"I understand that KTMB is dealing with a slew of operational troubles and problems as a result of the KVDT1 track upgrading project, which is still not complete, and the KVDT2 project, which has been halted," he stated in a Facebook post today.
Loke also stated that he will meet with TBS management to discuss the organization's readiness to manage large crowds of passengers, commuters, and people on weekends and holidays.
On his first official day as Transport Minister, Loke took a ride on RapidKL's Light Rail Transit (LRT) to witness and observe for himself how crowded the trains were during the after-work peak hours.
Loke, who spent two hours from 5pm on the Kelana Jaya LRT line, said it was unquestionably congested and uncomfortable for travellers.
Loke stated that he did not wish to alert Prasarana Malaysia Bhd's top management or the media of his surprise check because he wanted to learn about the passengers' everyday commute.
