RM20 One Way Ferry Fare For Tioman Island Residents Starting 2023

To the rejoice of the folks in Tioman Island, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail recently announced that the Pahang government under his helm has decided that one way ferry fare for the islanders will be revised to RM20 starting January 2023.
This reduction is a substantial savings of RM30, compared to RM50 they are forking out now for a one way trip. According to Wan Rosdy, this subsidy would however result in a financial implication to the state of RM500,000.

He further added that the RM20 figure was based upon feedback on what most Tioman Island residents were comfortable paying after an engagement session with the residents of Kampung Jawa here today.
This revised rate according to him was only for the route via Teluk Gading Jetty (formerly Tanjung Gemok). The ferry fare for non-resident and tourists however would remain at RM60 one way.
