Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate Debuts as the Marque’s Flagship GT Swansong

Aston Martin is notoriously known for producing some of the most stunning and iconic grand tourers ever, all stemming from the brand’s two long-standing GT models, the DB and DBS lineups. Marking an end to the storied DBS nameplate, the British ultra-luxury marque has launched the all-new DBS 770 Ultimate – the last-ever Aston Martin to don the DBS name.

As the pinnacle of production for all previous DBS models, the DBS 770 Ultimate debuts as the most powerful DBS of all time, thanks to the updated 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 mill. As its name suggests, the 770 is capable of delivering up to 770 PS (759 HP) and 900 NM, good enough to propel the grand tourer from nought to 100 KM/H in 3.4 seconds.

Flat out, the AM’s final Super GT is capable of reaching a V-max of 340 KM/H – making it the second-fastest Aston Martin ever made, only behind the Valkyrie hypercar.

The massive V12 engine is mated with a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox with updated calibration for quicker shift speeds. Power is sent to its rear wheels via a mechanical limited-slip differential, mounted at the rear axle of the car.  In order to match its sheer power output, the 770 is bestowed with an equally-beefy stopping power, delivered by the carbon ceramic brakes, with its rotors measured at 16.1-inch in front and 14.1-inch at the back.

Manoeuvring this V12 grand tourer is a relatively ‘easy’ feat, courtesy to the upgraded steering system. Compared to the previous DBS models, the 770’s chassis is also a bit stiffer, with a specially-calibrated suspension system to match.

Visually, the DBS 770 Ultimate rides on massive 21-inch wheels with bespoke design, available in three finishes. As per any Aston Martin GTs, the 770 boasts a long hood with horseshoe vent design in order to provide ample cooling for the massive V12 powertrain. There’s a lot of carbon fibre trims and parts around the 770, ranging from the new front splitter, rear diffuser and sills, windshield surround, mirror caps, as well as fender louvres.

Upon entering the DBS 770 Ultimate’s cabin, drivers and passengers will be greeted by the door sill plaque, etched with the exact unit number of the vehicle. The standard Sports Plus seats are wrapped in both Alcantara and leather, with its prime frame made from lightweight carbon fibre, to reduce weight. Also draped in carbon fibre are the steering wheel with paddle shifters, as well as the central console.

Juxtaposed against the grey-laden upholstery is the contrasting trim split and stitching. Should you think Alcantara-Leather-Carbon combo are too ‘race-like’, Aston Martin offers a plethora of bespoke options for you to choose from, just make sure to prepare an ‘extra’ budget for it.

Just like any ‘swansong’ models,  Aston Martin will only build 499 units of DBS 770 Ultimate in total, with 300 of them being the Coupe and the remaining 199 will be Volantes. To no one’s surprises, all 499 units have already been spoken for, in spite of commanding a premium price tag of £314,000 (RM1.671 million) for the Coupe and £337,000 (RM1.793 million) for the Volante.
