F1 Driver Carlos Sainz Jr Receives His Customised Ferrari 812 Competizione

When one is tasked as a driver for the fabled Ferrari Formula One (F1) team, it’s only fitting that the ‘company car’ ought to match. Surely, that must be the drive behind this specially customised Ferrari 812 Competizione that Carlos Sainz Jr recently took delivery of.
Indeed, Ferrari’s supposed ‘Number 2’ driver - next to de-facto lead driver and teammate Charles Leclerc - seized the opportunity to put the famed Maranello-based marque’s Tailor Made personalisation division to work for this special commission. Sources online report that the Spanish driver spent time with said division back in December 2021 to tailor his car.

Surely, the V12-powered supercar is a significant upgrade for Sainz in replacing his current daily, which happens to be a Volkswagen Golf that was gifted to him by his parents back when he was just 18 years old. Said hatchback served Sainz well throughout his F1 career whilst he drove for past teams such as Toro Rosso, Renault, and McLaren.
Having openly stated his preference for dark colours, Sainz chose to specify his 812 Competizione in a deep shade of grey with a satin finish that alters the colour slightly depending on how light hits the body. On top of which comes black-finished wheels, matched with red-painted brake calipers and subtle stripes.

On board, the carbon-fibre tread plates have "Smoother Operator" inscribed on them in silver. Meanwhile the carpets don his number 55 racing number as part of the stripes and the rest of the cabin is dark gray with red accents to match the exterior.
Under the hood, this customised 812 Competizione harnesses Ferrari’s signature stratospheric 6.5-litre V12 powerplant delivering both a punch and wild soundtrack to match. The former is evident through claimed output figures of 830 HP and 692 NM, thus allowing it to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 2.85 seconds, 200 KM/H in just 8.5 seconds, and reach a V-Max of 340 KM/H.

On the road, Sainz reportedly enjoys going through the 812 Competizione’s gears just to hear how the powerplant's note changes. To Sainz, the engine's sound gives him a thrill, but that's somewhat expected from having a Prancing Horse in your garage, more so when it’s a rare one too with Ferrari limited the 812 Competizione production to just 999 units alongside a further 599 units of its 812 Competizione Aperta open-top twin.
For the record, Sainz had a successful 2022 season in F1 where he charted his second season in Ferrari colours. With nine podium finishes plus a sole run to victory at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, he ranked fifth in the drivers' championship after amassing 246 points.
