- Over 300 Merchants Along PLUS Highway Begin Accepting Cashless Payment
Just in time for Chinese New Year (CNY), over 300 stalls along the PLUS Highway’s R&R would now be accepting payments for goods via cashless mode via Debit cards, Credit cards, GrabPay, Touch ‘n Go e-Wallet, Boost, MAE, Setel, ShopeePay and MPay Wallet.
This is a welcomed change as opposed to just having a Touch n’ Go which has been criticised to have a monopoly in most modes of payments on the Malaysian highway networks. This is also in line with the government’s aspiration for the public to embrace and use cashless payment.
According to PLUS Chief Commercial Officer, Christine Liew, “For the past one year, GrabPay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Boost, and ShopeePay have been the first few payment partners who have continuously been running cashback rewards for our customers at R&Rs.”
She further added that, “To encourage more highways customers in adopting cashless payment at PLUS R&Rs, MyDebit has launched a “Wave & Menang” contest from 1st December 2022 until 28th February 2023 where our customers will stand a chance to win prizes totaling RM70,000* by spending a minimum of RM5 with their Debit Cards.”
Moreover, from 16 January 2023 until 28 February 2023, Setel is offering cashback rewards to customers who spend a minimum of RM10 where they will earn RM2 cashback. Setel would also be offering its users a RM5 cashback if they reload a minimum of RM50 into their Setel account.
In 2023, in view of the government's push towards digitization and cashless transactions, more promotions and activities will be rolled out by the other payment partners such as MAE, Visa, and Mastercard in order to make going cashless more rewarding to PLUS’s highway users.
