Although there is still no firm date on when the MRT Putrajaya Line (Phase 2) would be launched this coming March, the Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke is confident that this line would benefit everyone overall.

As reported before, this line would serve roughly 200,000 city dwellers in just two years of operation similar to the current MRT Kajang Line (Phase 1). This new line which cost RM30.53 billion would cover 36 stations in total serviced by 49 trains set at a frequency of five minutes initially.

Yesterday during his official visit (not spot-check), to three (3) MRT stations, Putrajaya Sentral, Titiwangsa & Kwasa Damansara he acknowledged that preparations for the grand opening are already in full swing with no further delays anticipated.

Loke, who was also ferried in the MRT from Putrajaya Sentral to Kwasa Damansara yesterday further explained that the opening of this line would also help ease the burden on patients who would require medical treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. There would be an easily accessible station nearby the hospital which would also be equipped with a 400 metre long moving walkway (walker).

Furthermore, Prasarana would also deploy 107 intermediary buses to support the MRT2 service and further encourage the general public to switch from driving to public transportation.
