Local newswire Bernama reports that the Putrajaya Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line is expected to serve roughly 200,000 within two years after it launches full operations next month. This fact was confirmed by Minister of Transportation Anthony Loke.

The minister also adds that the upcoming Phase Two of the Putrajaya MRT line is currently at 99.9% completion, and should attract more users when it begins service in the middle of next month.

‘’We hope it can hit a daily ridership of about 200,000 in one to two years. As in any MRT or LRT (Light Rail Transit) service, it will take time to reach a particular target. For MRT One too, we started the Kajang Line MRT (MRT Kajang Route) with a low base which has reached about 200,000’’ he said to Bernama.

Lastly, the new Putrajaya MRT Line which saw RM30.53 billion invested into its construction and system installation, will cover 36 stations by using a total of 49 trains set operating at a frequency of five minutes each initially.
