The 2023 Perodua Axia D74A Has Garnered 3,591 Bookings Thus Far

During the official preview of the new 2023 Perodua Axia D74A model held earlier this week, the carmaker has confirmed that a total of 3,591 bookings have been placed thus far. This is a healthy sign indeed, and Perodua is poised to see its newest DNGA-based supermini become its best-seller.

In fact, Perodua CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad stated that the firm has set a monthly target of 5,700 units for said model. This follows on from the exec’s previous confirmation that the Axia D74A model is set to fuel up to 25% of Perodua’s total production volume this year and exceed 82,000 units.

Said figure tallies with the final production batch for the outgoing Axia model, thus leaving 44,000 orders for said older model still unfulfilled.

Despite this, Datuk Zainal appears confident of the aforementioned targets, citing that the firm has managed to convert nearly all these outstanding orders by customers to bookings for the new model. Much of this is likely fuelled by the incentives offered by the carmaker, including SST subsidies and the promise that all incentives implemented in the initial bookings will be retained.

The D74A-generation Axia is set for official launch sometime next week, with Perodua set to offer four variants initially, all primed with its new D-CVT automatic transmission. A base-spec manual-transmissioned variant to slot below the current entry-level Axia G grade has been promised for later this year, with Perodua acknowledging that demand for such a package is still high amongst Malaysians.

Having now grown in size with enhanced efficiency and primed with a bevy of new and advanced features, the new D74A-gen Perodua Axia will see itself set new standards for the A-segment. At present, the model can be booked at tentative prices ranging between RM38,600 and RM49,500.
