- Ford Unveils VW-Based Electric SUV Through Teaser Video
American automaker Ford teases its upcoming SUV outfitted with Volkswagen’s MEB platform through a new video.
Ahead of its official launch next week, the video teaser unveils a sporty SUV specifically made for adventure road trips hinting at Ford’s new electric crossover for the European market.
General Manager of Ford Model e in Europe, Martin Sander slightly revealed the vehicle's front end
There isn’t much to gauge from the 10 seconds video, as it only includes the nameless EV manoeuvre and a few mesmerising panoramas from a lake-side lane to a rather grubby arid region.
This five-seat SUV is intended to take the place of the supermini Fiesta, which was slated for discontinuation following Ford’s announcement made last year. Following that, it aligns with the company’s plan to expand its electric vehicle lineup which is scheduled to begin this year.
Thanks to reputable sources online, it indicates the new midsize crossover will be manufactured in Cologne, Germany on top of being the first of two EVs to be added to the factory's production lines.
Aside from that, Ford invested with a nearly $2 billion investment in EV manufacturing and a new battery assembly facility that is set to open in 2024. To recap, Ford will fully reveal its new electric SUV featuring its new underpinnings on March 21.
