Johor-Singapore RTS Link On Track For Completion In 2026 - Loke

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link will be completed by the end of 2026. "There have been some delays previously, but MRT Corp is correcting them, and we will do everything possible to ensure it is completed on time." "It's going well, and we're on track." I am being briefed on the progress on a regular basis, and I have also given them strict instructions to stick to the schedule. "We are fully committed to that bilateral agreement," Loke added.

Singapore Transport Minister S. Iswaran stated on Friday that the RTS Link construction was progressing well, with 45% of the work on its side completed. He called the new link "an important addition" to the existing road connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia, and said construction is on schedule to be completed by the end of 2026. Once the 4km-RTS Link is completed, passengers will be able to travel in about five minutes from the Bukit Chagar station in Johor Baru to the Woodlands North station, and vice versa. In each direction, the train service can carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour. Meanwhile, Loke stated that the Federal Government has no intention of increasing the RM20 Road Charge (RC) imposed on foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia through Johor.

"Any charges we impose will be reciprocated by the Singapore government; if we raise the RC, they will raise the entry fee for Malaysian-registered vehicles as well." "This is something we have to think about, but there are no such plans right now," he said, adding that the government encourages Singaporeans to visit Malaysia, particularly Johor. He was asked to comment on the matter after Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Pandak Ahmad suggested in the state assembly on March 21 that the RM20 fee be increased because it was "too low" after conversion.
