In a statement issued yesterday, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) and highway concessions welcomed YB Minister of Public Works' recommendations for the implementation of the open toll payment system. Taking into account the current toll system's environment, LLM and highway concession companies will work together to ensure the smooth implementation of the open toll payment system. According to LLM, "the implementation of this open toll payment system is also an early initiative for the transition towards the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system, which is currently being actively worked on."

According to Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the government plans to conduct an MLFF proof of concept (POC) evaluation on the system by the end of October 2023 before implementing it on all of the country's highways. The Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) has been designated as the POC's initial trial site. As part of the previously announced open toll payment system, Besraya is one of five highways that will begin accepting credit and debit cards for toll payments in September.

"This is the right step in the government's efforts to provide users with options and facilities for paying highway tolls," LLM said. "LLM always welcomes feedback from road users, and the ongoing dedication and support in helping to improve the performance of toll motorways is greatly appreciated," LLM added.
