- MOT Forms A Digital Advisory Committee To Assist With Digitisation Push

The transport ministry (MoT) has announced the formation of a digital advisory committee (Jawatankuasa Penasihat Digital, JPD) comprised of ICT experts from various industries to assist the ministry's digitalization efforts.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport today, JPD will contribute its expertise to strengthen the ministry's digitalisation initiatives in the areas of service stability, cybersecurity, and user experience. The five JPD members will serve without pay to the government. Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi, who served as chairman and CEO of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) from 2011 to 2014, will chair the committee. Chu Hong Keong has over 30 years of experience in the banking and telecommunications industries, most recently as a strategy and transformation manager at an international bank. He was also the CEO of a local ICT firm.
Datuk Dr Suhazimah Dzazali served in the government for 35 years, until 2020. She was instrumental in the creation of the Pelan Strategik ICT Sektor Awam 2016-2020 and the Pelan Strategik Pendigital Sektor Awam 2021-2025. Fong Choong Fook serves as the executive chairman of LGMS Berhad, a publicly traded cybersecurity firm. TIMEdotCom's 'Commander-In-Chief,' Afzal Abdul Rahim, is the founder of the Malaysian Internet.
JPD met with Transport Minister Anthony Loke for the first time yesterday, after he announced a switch to digital road tax and lesen last month. "With digitalisation, we can reduce the traffic in JPJ offices by around 80%, because out of the total, 80% of renewals are for private vehicles. "The savings for the public will be in time," he said last month.
