- New Lynk & Co 08 Teased Ahead Of Debut This Month
Lynk&Co recently teased the first official images of its upcoming 08 SUV model featuring both trendy crossover design cues plus an electrified powertrain.
Much of the 08’s design features cues adopted from Lynk&Co's futuristic The Next Day concept car unveiled in June 2022. This production-bound version however sees a shift to more conventional vertical built-in form.
Through this latest teaser, the 08 shows off its stronger-looking split LED headlamps, slender bumper panel including a black trim panel on front doors, and single thin LED taillights. All of these sees the 08 align with the design cues of the Zeekr X SUV.
On board, this seventh model from the Geely-owned brand showcases a wide-portrait infotainment touchscreen mounted on top of the austere dashboard. Adding on to that, the new 08 offers the latest Flyme Auto connectivity system by Meizu which is speculated to find its way into other models too.
As for the technical details, reputable sources online indicate that the footprint of the new model will likely be based on Geely’s CMA 2.0 platform - the same as what the upcoming successor of Volvo XC60 will underpin.
Beyond that, the 08 is also expected to come as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This setup will combine a 1.5-litre 3-cyl engine with electric motors plus a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
Now, there might be two versions of the E-Motive system implemented. First of which is an EM-F that’s built as a parallel hybrid, whilst the second called EM-P offers a plug-in hybrid setup that allows the battery to be charged up to 50kW.
Meanwhile, the ‘’NordThor’’ petrol engine meant for the 08 claims to have a thermal efficiency of up to 44.2% and contribute over 15% in fuel savings over Lynk&Co’s present mild-hybrid (MHEV) and PHEV systems.
Further details imply the official launch of the Lynk & Co 08 in China is expected to take place on March 30 at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. There’s also plans for the 08 to be marketed in Europe somewhere in 2024.
