SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd has recently launched a new multi-fuel service station in Daro, Mukah yesterday (March 19). This PETROS multi-fuel station mainly offers several options for refuelling like hydrogen and electric charging for EVs in addition to regular petrol and diesel.

The new site launching ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg alongside other Sarawak ministers like Deputy State Secretary (Economic and Development Planning) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datu Len Talif Salleh, and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Hussain.

According to Abang Johari, he told Borneo Post that the stations will be established in Pusa, Kapit, Sibu, and Miri as a preliminary step towards encouraging the use of electric vehicles for environmental sustainability.

“And we can produce electricity because we have hydropower. Apart from that, the second step is the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles. So, we use electric vehicles first. The people will be able to use new technology vehicles to reduce carbon production. “This is our approach for a more sustainable environment. That is why we set up Petros so we are able to provide this service to the rural areas,” he told reporters during a press conference after launching the Daro multi-fuel station yesterday.

Built to serve the local communities, this new station spearheaded as the first of its kind in a Sarawakian town landscape which was operated by Dealer Owned, Dealer Operated (DODO) specifically for the state of Sarawak.

After its first station was constructed in Kuching last year, the newly launched fuel station targeted to help the locals in getting better access to gasoline due to its struggle in having any.

According to SEDC Energy, it also marked its first step towards network expansion through the recruitment of dealers that seek interest in operating DODO multi-fuel refueling stations across the land of Hornbill state.

Furthermore, the plan also includes remote and rural areas for the sake of people’s convenience to easily fuel their vehicles.

‘’This is in line with the Sarawak government’s aspirations to raise the standard of living and attend to the people’s needs,’’ it remarked.

Shortly, the energy company intends to set up more multi-fuel refueling stations across Sarawak adding electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities as part of its focus on environmental and transportation sustainability aside from having the conventional fossil fuels.

Adding on to that, the multi-fuel station which is built along Pan Borneo Highway and strategic areas will soon be mounted with hydrogen refueling dispensers to accommodate the needs of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV), as well as conventional fuels and EV chargers.
