EV users travelling eastbound can now once again rest assured that their fast EV charging needs are catered to as the DC Charger by EV Connection (EVC) is back online ahead of the projected 42 days closure which was supposed to complete on 19 Apr 2023.

Many EV users had expressed their concern when the 180kW DC Charger (2 x 90kW) located at the Petronas Gambang East Bound R&R  was closed off on 8 Mar to facilitate roof shelter. The primary concern was the upcoming long Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays which would see an increase in people travelling back to their hometowns.

During the duration of the primary DC Chargers downtime, EVC had installed a temporary single output CCS2 Kempower Mobile 22kWH DC Charger that had helped ease EV users' worries. This is on top of the existing 11kWh AC Charger at the Gambang Petronas Station.

When checked with representatives from EVC, we were informed that the temporary mobile DC Charger has been removed with the opening of the main DC charging facility and would be deployed elsewhere as the group is looking at upgrading some of it's exposed charging facilities progressively.

Plugshare still shows under repairs, but rest assured it is open for charging.

The EV Charging rates for the 180kW DC Charger (2 x 90kW) would remain at RM2.20 per minute but now with the added convenience of a proper shelter.
