- JPJ eBid On Tiktok? Fake Account!
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) denies selling vehicle registration numbers through a trending application TikTok.
Through a post that has gone viral on TikTok, it claims that the department is running an open bidding system for vehicle registration numbers.
While the department dismisses the TikTok account, the post also includes the logo of JPJ’s eBid system which uses the TikTok handle as @jpjebidofficial.
It went on saying that the department did not have any TikTok account and did not issue any leaflets on the sale of registration numbers as alleged by the account.
Concerned by the viral matter, JPJ also advises the public not to believe easily and to contact the nearest JPJ for more accurate information.
"The use of the official JPJ logo without permission is an offence and the department will not hesitate to take strict action against any individual misusing the department's official logo," it further said in the Facebook post.
JPJ is always committed to enforcing road-related laws for the well-being of the public, especially road users. Hence, the public who have related complaints can channel them through http://jpj.spab.gov.my/eApps/system/index.do.
A quick look at the website, has shown zero search meaning that the account has been taken down. However, a survey on the application found that the account previously garnered up to 52,000 followers with a total of over 161,000 likes.
