Following its teaser and booking commencement, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has officially launched the all-new Hyundai Creta. Coming in a single Plus variant only, this compact SUV is set to compete against the likes of Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross in the ever-competitive local B-SUV segment.

Measuring 4,315 MM long, 1,790 MM wide, with a 2,610 mm wheelbase, the Creta slots perfectly between the Kona and Ioniq 5 EV as the marque’s ‘B-Plus’ SUV offering, featuring design language inspired from its bigger, more upmarket sibling, the Hyundai Palisade.

Speaking of design, the Creta sports Hyundai’s signature Parametric Jewel front fascia, featuring unique grille design with the LED DRLs disguised within them. Meanwhile, the car’s actual headlights sit on the lower part of the bumper – a signature design in many Hyundai SUVs nowadays, including the Kona and Palisade.

Unlike the funky-looking Kona, the Creta features a more boxy-like SUV silhouette, primed with a bevy of silver and chrome finishes on parts like the front and rear bumper skid plates, door handles, as well as the C-pillar trim. At the rear, the Creta sports LED combination taillights with distinctive dual-layout design. Apart from that, this SUV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with dual five-spoke design, finished in silver hue.

On board, the Creta is primed with a slew of comfort and tech amenities, including the 8-inch infotainment display with voice command function, as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Drivers, on the other hand, will get a bigger 10.25-inch TFT digital instrument cluster that also displays ADAS-related visuals and graphics, aside from the standard tachometers and other gauges.

Elsewhere, the Creta is brimmed with standard modern equipment like keyless entry and start, automatic climate control with dedicated rear seats air vents, as well as electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold function – making it on par with other local segment rivals.

The Creta Plus variant offered in Malaysia is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp Smartstream petrol mill that delivers 113 HP and 144 NM to boot. Facilitating the power transfer from said mill to its front axle (FWD) is Hyundai’s proprietary smart CVT gearbox, dubbed as Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Aside from that, the Creta comes with no less than four selectable driving modes, including Eco, Normal, Sport, and Smart.

And just like its local segment rivals, the Creta is not lacking on the safety front, primed with the latest Hyundai SmartSense advanced drivers assistance system (ADAS) suite. This includes functions like Forward and Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCTAA), Safe Exit Warning, as well as High Beam Assist.

These functions, plus the car’s six airbags, grants the Creta with a five-star New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) safety rating.

The all-new Hyundai Creta SUV is now available on sale, priced at RM149,888 on-the-road sans insurance. Said price is inclusive of HSDM’s free extended vehicle warranty of five years or 300,000 KM, whichever comes first. Customers can pick up to six exterior colourways, ranging from Dragon Red Pearl, Galaxy Blue Pearl, Titan Grey Metallic, Midnight Black Pearl, and Creamy White Pearl.

Additionally, there’s also a complementary 3-year or 50,000 KM service warranty for the first 150 orders of the Creta. Bookings can be now placed at any authorised Hyundai outlets across the country, or via Hyundai Malaysia’s official web store.
