While Peugeot Malaysia is previewing the Peugeot E-2008 EV SUV at the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2023, folks at Peugeot global have launched the facelifted version of the 2008 SUV, featuring striking new design features. More importantly, the EV variant of the facelifted model now gets more power and better EV range.

Visually, the facelifted 2008 gets a redesigned front fascia, featuring the claw-like triple LED DRLs that elongated from the full LED headlights to the lower part of the front bumper, with the latter part now featuring blacked-out inserts.

At the rear, Peugeot has tweaked the car’s rear LED taillights design by enhancing the marque’s signature three-claw motif with horizontal double slats. As for the wheels, the facelifted 2008 is offered with either 16- or 18-inch wheels with similar funky design as seen on the Peugeot 408.

On board, this B-SUV is primed with a 10-inch infotainment display as standard. Opting for the GT or Allure variants will grant you a newly-designed 10-inch digital instrument cluster with novel 3D graphics effect. On the other hand, the rest of the variants will get the standard semi-analog driver’s display.

However, the biggest change taking place in this facelifted model is the powertrain upgrade for the EV variant, the Peugeot E-2008. This model inherits most of its EV components from the E-208 and E-308, which grants the car a new electric motor setup rated at 156 HP – 15% more powerful than the pre-facelift version.

Aside from the new motor, the E-2008 facelift also gets a bigger battery pack, now sized 54-kWh – granting the car an estimated EV range from 345 KM to 406 KM (WLTP).

As for the ICE-powered version, Peugeot is adding a new variant to the line, which is powered by a 136 HP-rated hybrid petrol mill mated to either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The firm claims this new hybrid variant is 15% more fuel efficient compared to the straight-out, non-hybrid ICE variants.

The 2024 Peugeot 2008 facelift is set to go on sale this summer in selected European markets. As for Malaysia, it might take a while for BAuto to bring this facelift version into our local market, as the firm recently launched a special body kit for the Malaysian-bound 2008.
