Local electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions firm Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) saw its operations expand north of the Peninsula’s border this week after activiating its first charging points in Thailand this week.

These newly activated charging points in said Kingdom was the result of a partnership between Thai EV charging infrastructure provider Evolt Technology Company Limited (Evolt) and Gentari’s wholly-owned subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd.

Both firms jointly deployed three AC charging stations located in Exchange Tower – a key landmark of Bangkok’s fast-developing Khlong Toei district. Said chargers are operated by Evolt, and these now join the firm’s massive network of 10,000 AC and DC chargers deployed in 77 provinces across said Kingdom.

“The collaboration with Evolt has been a thrilling endeavour, as we leverage their market leadership to propel Gentari's maiden venture into regional infrastructure development in Southeast Asia,” said Shah Yang Razalli, Chief Green Mobility Officer of Gentari, during a special launch ceremony held for said points.

Also present during the ceremony mentioned was Evolt’s Chief Operating Officer, Kanchalerm Earsakul, who said, “We are excited to celebrate the launch of the Gentari charging station. This represents a significant milestone in our commitment to provide convenient, reliable, and sustainable charging options for electric vehicle owners.”

The activation of these new charging points follows up from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between Gentari and Evolt earlier this year. It sees both companies collaborating to explore new areas of co-development and co-investment in the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, as well as other potential green mobility and clean energy solutions across the region.

“Our bigger goal is to bolster our green mobility network across key markets in Asia Pacific, and this partnership plays a crucial role in achieving that objective, while driving the transition towards sustainable mobility in the region,” adds Gentari’s Shah Yang Razalli.
