The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has released the provisional calendar for the Malaysia Championship Series 2023 season (MCS 2023). Four round will be held at the circuit throughout the year starting with its season-opener scheduled to take place this weekend from May 5 to May 7.
Sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) and supported by the Ministry of Youth & Sports (KBS), MCS 2023 has also garnered the support of Yokohama Tyre Sales Malaysia (YTSM) as the series’s official tyre distributor for the 2023 season.

“MCS is one of the longest-running national championship held at SIC, since its inauguration in 2002 as Malaysia Super Series (MSS) and rebranded to Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) in 2015, with the primary objective to garner interest in car racing and to unearth talented youths in motorsports,” said Azhan Shafriman Hanif, CEO of SIC, ahead of the season-opener happening this weekend.
For 2023, MCS continues to feature four competition categories. It includes the Touring Production (TP) class for modified production and turbocharged cars up to 2,000cc, the Malaysia Touring Car (MTC) class for the modified cars with engines displacing up to 1,600cc, the Stock Production 1 (SP1) class for cars with capacities no greater than 2,000cc, as well as the Stock Production 2 (SP2) class for cars with engines displacing below 1,600cc.
The Toyota Vios Sprint Cup stands as one of three supporting events for this weekend's MCS 2023 season-opener.
Other supporting events this weekend includes the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (left) and the Caterham Challenge (right).
Running alongside this weekend’s season-opener as support events are the TGR Vios Sprint Cup, the Caterham/Asia Classic Car Challenge races, as well as the Malaysian leg of the highly competitive Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series.
Race fans keen to catch all the action in flesh can do so at the circuit for free as the circuit offers both free entry and seating to the Main Grandstand area. Alternatively, fans can also catch the action at home through special live streams hosted via the SIC Facebook page.
Beyond this weekend, MCS 2023 returns for Round 2 from June 23 to June 25, followed by Round 3 from Aug 25 to Aug 27. It’s season-ending Round 4, on the other hand, is slated to take place from Sept 22 to Sept 24.
