GWM Malaysia presented a unit of the Ora Good Cat to Tengku Zafrul.

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the Transport Ministry is working on a new road tax structure for electric vehicles (EVs). He mentioned that the new structure would be unveiled at the end of this year and would be prominently featured in the ministry's Budget 2024 proposals.
Because the previous administration only exempted EVs from paying road taxes until 2025, Loke stated that the new structure was necessary, particularly in terms of EV road tax structure. The previous EV roadtax structure would have cost between RM4,000 and RM5,000 per year.

Loke stated that policies on EV usage should be clear in order to facilitate efforts to transition to a more sustainable mode of transportation. "I have directed ministry officers to investigate this matter based on feedback from consumers and EV manufacturers." "This is part of our efforts to encourage users to switch to these types of vehicles," he told reporters.

He also highlighted the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint, which aims for 15% EV and hybrid vehicle usage this year and 10,000 charging stations by 2025, prompting the government to consider adopting the sustainable mobility concept not only for land vehicles but also for air and maritime transport. "The concept of using sustainable fuels has also become a choice in the aviation sector, and this matter has gained the ministry's attention, especially at LIMA 2023 (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023)," he added.

Loke stated in his keynote address at the forum that Malaysia would continue to collaborate with Sweden to allow both countries to learn and collaborate on initiatives that promote sustainable transport modes. "We can use Sweden's best practises and expertise in EV adoption, charging infrastructure, and smart traffic systems, among other things, to help Malaysia accelerate its transition to e-mobility."

"I believe that cooperation is critical to addressing this challenge, and I am pleased to see that our two countries are strengthening their ties in the transport sector, particularly in the green transition, in addition to our previous partnership in road safety," he said.
