- Japan's Isuzu To Relocate Factory From Thailand To Indonesia
Isuzu's Indonesia plant could begin production as soon as next year.
According to Indonesia's industry minister, Japanese truck manufacturer Isuzu Motors plans to relocate a factory from Thailand to Indonesia and could begin production as early as next year.Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita met with Isuzu executives in Tokyo on Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry.
Isuzu Thailand did not respond immediately to a request for confirmation.
"We appreciate Isuzu's decision...we will provide incentives and support the relocation process," said the minister in a statement.
Isuzu already operates a plant in Karawang, Indonesia.
Indonesia currently manufactures vehicles for several Japanese automakers, including Honda, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki. It is also attempting to establish itself as a centre for electric vehicle battery production, leveraging its abundant raw materials.
