Starting on July 1, Kuala Lumpur police will work hand in hand with other law enforcement agencies to launch a massive integrated traffic operation to reduce various traffic infractions, according to Bernama.
Among the agencies involved are The Road Transport Department (RTD), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and the Department of Environment (DOE), according to Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zin.
"This operation will involve about 1,000 officers and police personnel with the respective agencies focusing on the offences under their own jurisdiction," he said. image.png

The integrated operation's targets were listed by Mohd Shuhaily as illegal parking, obstruction of traffic, running red lights, using illegal number plates, using illegal tinting, and various motorcycle-related offences.

Throughout Op Didik, errant road users would also receive education about the risks associated with disobeying the law. According to him, police will also conduct background investigations to look for criminal histories and arrest warrants, identify stolen vehicles, and take enforcement action against workshops that perform illegal modifications.

"The Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department will jointly take action on drug-related cases throughout the operation," he declared. For the record, 895 traffic investigation papers were filed from January to May of this year, with 311 cases of illegal parking, 180 cases of illegal racing, and 167 cases of running red lights accounting for the majority of offences.
