All-New Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe Teased Ahead of Global Debut
Mercedes-Benz is debuting an all-new model this week, cordially known as the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe. Ahead of its global debut on July 5, the German automaker has unveiled one teaser image of this new coupe model.

Posted via Mercedes-Benz’s official Facebook page, said image unveils the new CLE Coupe’s sporty roofline and the traditional two-door coupe bodystyle. Apart from that, we can also see the model’s headlights and taillights design that look somewhat similar to its three-box saloon counterpart, the newly-launched W214-gen E-Class.

More importantly, the launching of CLE Coupe will see Mercedes-Benz streamlining its sporty ICE lineup, with this new model replacing several discontinued models including the C-Class coupe and E-Class coupe. A convertible version with soft-top will reportedly follow-up the CLE Coupe, which will also be replacing the convertible variants of the C-Class and E-Class.

Apart from those two models, the new CLE Coupe will also replace the CLS, which will cease its production next year to make way for the new model.
Back to the new model, the CLE Coupe, codenamed C236, will be sold in both the European and North American markets, followed by the rest of the world later. As for its powertrain, several Mercedes-Benz American dealers reportedly say that the new CLE will boast the same partially-electrified powertrain setup as the new C-Class, which comprises of a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged engine at the core.
Aside from the four-pot setup, the new CLE will also come with a straight-six variant, followed by a souped-up AMG 53 variant, as reported by Car and Driver earlier this year. For reference, the previous-gen Mercedes-AMG E53 model rocks a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged that is mated to an electric motor to deliver a total system output of 451 HP to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
As for now, we can’t be sure whether the AMG CLE 53 will emulate its four-door cousin’s performance setup, as well as the rest of the details pertaining to the new model. However, all shall be answered in a few days’ time, as the new CLE Coupe will be unveiled to the world on July 5.
