- Audi Directly Integrates YouTube Into Selected Models
Audi has announced that certain models will now have access to YouTube's massive content library through their infotainment systems. This is due to Audi embedding the new app store it developed in collaboration with Volkswagen's CARIAD and HARMAN Ignite, which allows customers to personalise apps based on their needs.
The app store includes apps for navigation, parking, charging, productivity, weather, news, gaming, music, and video, with YouTube being the first video platform available for download through Audi's new app store. The app functions similarly to the YouTube app on a smartphone. After downloading and installing the app from the store, it appears in the MMI and can be launched by tapping the icon.

However, in order to meet Audi's safety standards, viewers may only watch videos while the vehicle is parked. Additionally, once logged in, YouTube Premium members will have ad-free viewing. An embedded SIM card is permanently integrated into the vehicle to establish a data link for third-party apps such as YouTube. Cubic Telecom conveniently bills data costs in Europe based on usage volume.

The project to enable access to the YouTube app is the result of the Volkswagen Group companies' collective expertise and synergies, with Volkswagen's CARIAD working on the project alongside Samsung subsidiary HARMAN. The goal is to create a smart companion for users via an open ecosystem of popular apps.

From 2024, drivers of certain Audi models equipped with the most recent hardware and software cluster of the third-generation modular infotainment system will have access to the YouTube app.
The A4/A5, Q5, A6/A7, A8, Q8 e-tron, and Audi e-tron GT quattro1 are among these models. The facility will initially be available in Europe, Canada, and the United States, with additional regions and Volkswagen Group brands to follow. Audi vehicles, on the other hand, will continue to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via the smartphone interface feature.
