- MLFF Toll System Can Be Implemented In 2025 - Public Works Ministry
According to Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) toll payment system will be implemented in 2025.
He said that the system is still being discussed with highway concession companies, but he hopes to reach an earlier agreement with the companies so that the MLFF system can be implemented sooner, by the end of 2024. "Various other related matters need to be refined because it involves many concession companies as well as legislation, regulation, preparation to develop the system, and the technology involved," he said on Radio Television Malaysia (RTM)'s "Naratif Khas" interview programme titled OPS: Efficient and Modern Traffic Management.
He claims that by using a gantry toll system outfitted with detection cameras, the MLFF system will make it easier for highway users to pay. Nanta announced on March 27 that the Sungai Besi Highway (Besraya) had been chosen as the site for the first MLFF Proof of Concept (POC), which will be implemented at the end of October 2023. He also stated that the Maju Motorway (MEX) and the highway network operated by IJM Corporation Bhd (IJM) will begin the OPS toll payment system or open payment system in September before expanding to ten more concession companies.
"This OPS can offer users more flexible payment options to pay tolls because they can be paid with a debit card, Visa card, or Mastercard card." "We will consider e-Wallet payments in the future," he said.
