The Works Ministry will carry out immediate flood mitigation works in 14 locations along the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) with an RM200 million allocation to prevent future floods, according to Bernama. According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, four incidents of flooding have occurred along LPT1 since its inception in 2004. The minister said that the highway was closed to all vehicles several days before due to floods that occurred in 2007, 2014, and twice in 2021, in January and December.
